The test itself is the problem.

DEAR EDITOR,

My name is David Watts. I have two children in MWISD (one in the SN program). It is my opinion the test itself is the problem.

Instead of teachers being allowed to teach a curriculum that coincides with previous and future teachings, the teachers must teach for the test. That type of teaching is catastrophic to a child’s ability to learn. Learning should be a never-ending journey. Instead it is a race to see who can score the highest on a test that a failed political system full of closed-minded, under-educated, egotistical, power-hungry maniacs have devised. This is insanity and must stop.

Our schools need much more media, including books, books, more books, computers and computer programs; and did I mention more (or even some) books?

I just feel like the idiots are running the schools. It is time teachers and parents take the schools back.

Is it our money the state spends? Then why shouldn’t we have the power? Are we a fascist country? I like to think not. It’s time to vote in representatives who want less control and give the people (not corporations) control of their own destiny.

Then again, you know the old saying: “If you think everyone else [is] crazy, then you’re probably the crazy one.” Guess I’m crazy then!

Sincerely,

David W. Watts
