Support Walden in runoff

Dear Editor,

My son and I would like to urge the voters of Parker County, Precinct 3, to vote for Larry Walden in the runoff election on July 31. We believe Larry has the qualifications to be a successful commissioner who will represent all of the residents of this precinct, whether they live in the city of Weatherford or in the unincorporated county.

Larry is a successful businessman with experience in management and in working with employees and the public. He is familiar with the oil and gas industry and won’t let them get by with damaging our roads. He knows the business of agriculture and will stand up for our private property rights. He knows the school business after serving over 30 years as a Parker County educator.  He values the history of our area and the people who live here.

We have lived in this area for 42 years and have found Larry Walden to be a man with character, honesty and good judgement – all the qualities we need in a commissioner.

Thanks for book drive support

Dear Editor,

The Palo Pinto County Retired Teachers and School Employees Association would like to thank the following sponsors for supporting our “2012 Bear Project-Books Encourage Awesome Readers.”

Generous contributors include: Booksatchell, Brazos Foundation, Gordon PTF, Houston PTO, Kiwanis, Noon Lion’s Club, Travis PTO, Walmart Foundation and individuals who made honorary, memorial and personal donations.

With these contributions we were able to gift every first-, third- and fifth-grade student in Palo Pinto County with a new book. Your participation in the Bear Project is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Members of PPCRTSEA

Runoff candidates supported

Dear Editor,

It is very important to Texas that we vote in the upcoming runoff election - early voting is July 23-27, and Election Day is July 31.

In this primary runoff election, we will likely determine who will represent Texas in the U.S. Senate for the next six years and, if history repeats, for the next 18-20 years. Turnout in the runoff elections next week is expected to be abysmal with vacations, the heat and farmers in the field. This is an opportunity for us to influence the election, especially if we will all work to get our friends and neighbors to the polls.

I have candidates I am supporting: David Dewhurst for U.S. Senate; David Medina for Texas Supreme Court; and Barry Smitherman and Warren Chisum for the Texas Railroad Commission.

Regardless of who you vote for, please vote. It is the best way to uphold our traditional Texas values.

Sincerely,

Greg Gilbert
