Walden backed in runoff race
In the race for Parker County Commissioner in Precinct 3, Larry Walden is my choice. I believe we need more people in government like him. He has the education, experience, knowledge and leadership skills required for the job.
He doesn’t want to become a leader, he is one. He doesn’t hope to become successful, he is successful, in both the public and private sectors. He will serve the entire precinct, not just a portion of it. He has spent his entire career here, in Parker County, working to make our county a better place.
Join me in helping him continue his community service at the next level.
Kind words for the Index
In this day of terrible decline of newspapers and other newsprint, I want to offer my congratulations to the staff of the Index for the awards they recently received from the Texas Press Association.
Our local newspaper simply gets better all the time. Publisher Mel Rhodes has hired some really good people, and he obviously recognizes their talent and lets them work. Mr. May, the same goes for you.
We can depend upon Chris Agee to research issues well and to present his comments fairly and from more than one point of view. I love everything Libby Cluett, who gets to the heart of the matter, writes. She caught my eye years ago with an article she covered about Kamp Kenner, a camp sponsored by Dr. Joanne Kenner for high school students interested in medical careers. The sports coverage has been really complete in 2011-12, giving recognition to athletes from most sports.
My goodness, Lindsay Bryant outdoes herself with her graphics! In Thursday’s paper (July 12), the use of the eye accompanying the “city’s black eye” coverage was really impressive. I applaud the use of the pictures of the Baker Hotel, patriotic images and such that she uses to dress up the various articles.
I want to thank all of you as a team for your respect for our history, the Brazos River coverage, and your efforts to incorporate into our paper coverage for all ages and interest groups who live in Mineral Wells. I intend to keep reading!
Editor’s response: Thank you, Mrs. Reddell, for taking the time to send us such positive comments and compliments. We thank you and our many subscribers, readers, advertisers and online followers for your support. It takes a community to produce a community newspaper.
