Perrin ISD students win first place in ‘Battle of the Books’ contest

By Kay Mailio | kmealio@gmail.com

Congratulations to Perrin-Whitt for winning first place in the “Battle of the Books,” sponsored by Travis Elementary School Mineral Wells.

“Battle of the Books” is an academic competition between twelve teams representing several area schools.

Teams consisting of 4th-6th graders read a series of fifteen books by well-known authors.

Teachers and parent coaches conducted weekly practices to discuss the literature and to engage in mini-competitions. Kendal Armstrong, Hanky Moore, Noah Kuhn, Rocky Moore, and Kelli Tucker won during the competition at Mineral Wells High School on May 22.

The “Bewildered Origami Builders” won by one point over the team from Garner Elementary.

Congratulations to the Perrin-Whitt team coached by Amye Eudy. The team parents were Barbara Moore and Janie Tucker.

The Summer Nutrition Program is paid for by the USDA and program sponsors.

There are no requirements to receive food except it is for people who live in the Perrin area or live in the Perrin-Whitt CISD.

Thought for the week: You shouldn’t get angry at someone who knows more than you do. After all, it’s not their fault.
