Sadness and smiles in Perrin

Perrin FFA advances to state competition with members of the poultry evaluation team. The team includes Katie Blakeley, Jake Hall, Lily Hodges and Kelsey Hutton. Also advancing to state is the nursery landscape team, comprised of Forest Francis, Hailey Bryan, Kaitlyn Salazar and Zakk Williams. Both teams will compete in College Station and Huntsville, respectively.

April is Child Abuse Awareness Month and the Jack County Welfare Board is selling blue pinwheels for $10 in memory or in honor of a child. They will be displayed at the front of Perrin ISD on April 28 to promote awareness and support for victims of child abuse and neglect.

The pinwheels are a visual reminder about child abuse prevention and symbolize the importance of everyone working together to protect our children. For more information, contact Debra Tillery at (940) 507-1471 or Jo Brumfield at (940) 859-6040.

You may purchase the pinwheels at any of the Perrin churches or at the school.

There will be a spring retreat for Perrin Baptist Church youth, April 26-28, at Riverbend Retreat Center in Glen Rose.

The Pirate baseball team’s last scheduled game of the season is Friday at Bryson, with the game beginning at 5 pm.

Thought for the week: Next to being shot at and missed, nothing is really quite as satisfying as an income tax refund.
