It’s time to lose an hour of sleep; on Sunday, Daylight Saving Time begins, so turn your clocks forward one hour Saturday night, or you’ll be late for Sunday services.
There will be a 50th wedding anniversary celebration for Watt and Bertha Tucker at the First Baptist Church. Everyone is invited to come and visit with Watt and Bertha on Saturday, March 9, from 2-4 p.m. No gifts please and come in casual dress.
Spring break for the Perrin school district is March 11-15.
The Perrin Baptist Church will host an Easter egg hunt on Wednesday, March 27, following the Wednesday meal. They are asking for donations of candy needed for the Easter egg hunt – non-chocolate, individually wrapped candies, which will fit in a plastic egg are needed. The church members will stuff eggs for the hunt on Wednesday, March 20.
Perrin-Whitt Players-in-Progress participants had an exciting time recently, having the honor of performing at a Harlem Globe Trotters game in Wichita Falls, Texas.
After their performance they met some of the players and got autographs.
Preschool Story Time in the Perrin Elementary school library is 10-11 a.m. on March 13. For more information, see B. J. Cox in the library.
It’s not too early to begin cleaning up Perrin. The spring-clean-up date is Saturday, April 6. Time to bring trash is from 8 a.m. until the dumpster is full or noon. If you need help call 798-9246. No tires, paint cans or electronics can be taken.
Food distribution at Perrin Advent Christian Fellowship Hall will be Saturday, March 16, 9-11 a.m. Enter through the north side of the church.
On the third Saturday of each month, there will be a canned-food distribution at the Advent Christian Church, located at 300 S. Marks St., in Perrin. The food is provided by the County Probation Office and distributed throughout the county. There are no requirements to receive food except it is for people who live in the Perrin area or live in the Perrin-Whitt CISD. For more information, contact Debra Tillery. Several of the local churches in Perrin have also been asked to help stock the pantry.
Congratulations to the Destination ImagiNation teams from Perrin. Last weekend, 34 students competed in the Trinity Valley-North Central Regional DI tournament, in Flower Mound. Senior Jake Hall received a scholarship.
Mrs. Gregory’s high school team won first place and will be going to state competition in April. Team members include Jake Hall, Eric Hall, Bobby Jump, Meggan Jump, Cole Hall and Aidan Sims.
Mrs. Rice’s high school team won second place. Members include Jacob Rice, Kaitlyn Salazar, Cooper Young, Alfredo Cantero and Chace Talley.
Mrs. Ortiz’s middle school team won third place. Team members include Brianna Bryant, Ethan Lindsey, Rocky Moore, Colton Prestridge, Chance Tessman and Justin Meyers.
Mrs. Moore’s middle school team won fourth place. Team members are Hanky Moore, Kent Withaeger, Noah Kuhn and Nathan Mock
Mrs. Ehlenbach’s team members were Justus Ehlenbach, Jacob White, Kelli Tucker, Clay McLemore, Tyler Welchand Tyce Lambert. Mrs. White’s team members were Jadyn White, Kennedy Richardson, Maddie Jump, Hannah Tessman, Andrea Hinkle, Dylan Hinkle and Evan Kuhn.
The Perrin High School One-Act Play will have a public performance of their play “Now That April’s Here,” on Monday, March 18, at 7 p.m., in the junior high gym.
The kindergarten class made teeth for Dental-Health Month and now know why it is important to brush their teeth twice a day and see their dentist every six months. Dr. Rein Dickerson in Mineral Wells donated bags of toothbrushes, toothpaste and floss for the whole class and the class appreciated his support.
The Pirate Track team will go to the meet at Santo on Thu Feb 28. The Junior High Track team will compete in Tolar on Thu March 21.
The Pirate Baseball team will play at home against Poolville on Mon Mar 11 with the game beginning at 11 am and on Wed Mar 13 at Chico at 11 am.
The Perrin Softball will play in the Bridgeport Tournament Mar 7-9. Their next regular game is Tues Mar 19 at Olney with the game beginning at 5 pm.
On Sun, March 24, the Perrin Baptist church will have a Take Home Meal - Youth Fund Raiser.
Thought for the week: Daylight Savings Time just makes some people tired an hour earlier.
