The Senior Driver Safety class will be held on Thursday, March 7, at the Jacksboro Senior Citizens building in Jacksboro. The class will begin at 8 a.m. and go until noon. To enroll or for more information, call Doris King at (940) 567-5431.
Chuck Crain from Presley's Branson and RFD TV will be bringing worship in song to Gibtown Baptist church on Sunday, March 3, at 6 p.m. A free willing offering will be taken. Chuck says, "Being able to sing of my Lord and Savior every nightand add a ray of hope to people has been a great joy." Everyone is invited to come and bring a friend. There will be refreshments afterwards.
Our sympathy is extended to the family of Bea Hutton who passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, at age 97. Her funeral services were Wednesday at the First Baptist Church with internment at the Perrin Memorial Garden.
Beatrice Hutton was born Jan. 6, 1916, in Palo Pinto County, daughter of the late Andrew and Jimmie Francis Webb. She served in the U.S. Navy as a Wave during WWII. Beatrice has resided in the Perrin community her entire life, known affectionately to many as Nannie and Mrs. Bea.
She worked as a phone operator, a beauticianand a rancher and dedicated her life to serving others at the First Baptist Church of Perrin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, L.G. Hutton, in 1976; her parents, a sisterand two brothers. Survivors: Son, George Hutton and wife, Linda of Perrin; grandchildren, Brad Hutton and wife, Kim of Weatherford, Shad Hutton and wife Megan of Peaster, Brian Scott and wife, Robin of Fort Worthand Matt Scott, of Mineral Wells; a sister, Angie Sitton of Perrin; great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Kamden Hutton, Preslee and Rylee Scarbroand Landon Hutton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration for Watt and Bertha Tucker at the First Baptist Church. Everyone is invited to come and visit with Watt and Bertha on Saturday, March 9, 2013, from 2 to 4. No gifts pleaseand come in casual dress.
The Perrin High School One Act Play will have a public performance of their play, "Now That April's Here" on Mon March 18 at 7 p.m. in the Junior High Gym. Come see the performance!
The Perrin-Whitt PTO meeting and Math/Science night will be Thursday, March 7, at 6 p.m. in the elementary building.
On Saturday, Feb. 23, a group of Perrin High School Ex-Student Ladies got together for lunch in Weatherford at the Sunny Street Café. Those that attended were as follows: Class of 1963—Mary Pat Patton from Stephenville; Class of 1964—Annetta , Fort Worth; Marilyn Yowell , Mineral Wells; Lydia Davis, Perrin; and Bennie Murray, Weatherford. Class of 1965 Yvonne Pate, Weatherford; Class of 1966 Sue Ann Rhoades, Linda Cannon, Weatherford; and Bullah Dallas, Stephenville. Everyone had a great time catching up, laughing and telling stories of the past years in Perrin.
The Pirate Track season has begun with their first meet on Thursday, Feb. 28, at Millsap then on Friday, March 8, at Bryson. The Junior High Track team will compete in Ranger on Monday, March 4.
The Pirate Baseball game is Tuesday, March 5, at 6:30 p.m. at Archer City beginning at 5 p.m.
The Perrin Softball Tournament is Feb. 28-March 2, here at the Lady Pirate's field.
Their next game is Tuesday at Bridgeport at 5:30 pm and then they will play in the Bridgeport Tournament March 7-9.
The Pirate Baseball team will play in the Poolville Tournament Feb. 28-March 2.
Be making plans and get in the swing to clean up Perrin. The date for this semi-annual event is Saturday, April 6. We’ll be giving more information as the time nears.
Spring break for the Perrin school district is March 11-15.
