Graham Dennis Stowell was born April 9 at 7:54 a.m. at Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lonetree, Colo. Graham weighed 5 lbs. 11 oz. and was 18.5” long. His parents are Dennis and Sherri-Jo (Keener) Stowell of Aurora, Colo. Sherri-Jo is originally from Perrin.
Grandparents are Alinda Keener of Fort Worth, and George and Ann Stowell of Gunnison, Colo. Great-grandparents are Audie and Martha Thompson of Weatherford, and Al and Caroline Farnsworth of Idaho.
Other proud family members originally from the Jack County area include Aunt Shalee Keener (Denver), great uncles and aunts Greg and Jo Geer (Gunnison, Colo.) and Doug and Sherri Montgomery (Lipan), and cousins Cameron Geer, Colby Geer, Carly Montgomery and John David Montgomery.
Descendants of the Cullen and Minota Roe family met for their 9th annual Roe family reunion on Sunday, May 12, with 25 in attendance.
They meet in the home of Kathy and Roger Pruitt of Perrin. They all enjoyed a pot luck meal, then as the adults shared memories, the children had the fun of the country life playing outdoor games and taking hikes. Most of the family live in the Ft. Worth area.
The Perrin Memorial Day Services will be held on Sunday, May 19, at the Perrin Memorial Garden.
Mitchell Park will be having special events for the Memorial Day celebration May 24-27, there will be an Elvis impersonator and their 6th annual Crazy Hat Parade. Also included are other activities with trophies and games.
Perrin FFA attended the Oil Belt District Degree Check and Convention on Monday, April 29, in Jacksboro. FFA member Kaitlyn Salazar ran for Area IV FFA officer and won the position of Area Vice President. Eric Hall and Katie Blakeley ran for a District Officer position and got elected President and Vice President. FFA members participated in the Progressive Agriculture Safety Day held in Jacksboro on April 30. Fifth-grade Students from Perrin and Jacksboro were in attendance.
All Perrin Junior/Senior High students who plan to participate in sports next year, physicals have been set for May 23, 2013, from 9-11a.m. at the high school in the new gym. Incoming 7th, 9th and 11th grade students are required to have physicals for the upcoming school year.
All other athletes are covered by their previous physical unless they had a serious injury or surgery. If this is the case for your student, they must get a new physical. UIL physical forms will be sent home with students.
Forms may be gotten at the school office. The cost for the physical is $25. Make checks payable to Dr. Trev Dixon. Schedule: 9 a.m.- 8th grade girls; 9:20 a.m.- 8th grade boys; 9:40 a.m.- 10th grade girls; 10 a.m.- 10th grade boys; 10:20 a.m.-6th grade girls; and 10:40 a.m.- 6th grade boys.
Congratulations to the 2013-2014 PHS Treasurettes. Co-Captains are Haylee Fowler and Amber Maness. Other Treasurettes are Brianna Lindsey, Jacie Angelly, Jennifer Fincher, Shantel Zuber, Mariah Ortiz and Elisa Cantero.
School is going into its final mode now because all library books will be due in the school’s library by May 24. You are advised to take care of any library fines before the end of school.
May 21 will be Field Day for grades K-2 with the games from 12-2:30. On Friday, May 24, grades 3-6 will have their Field Day.
Remember there will be no school on Monday, May 27, in honor of Memorial Day.
Kindergarten graduation ceremonies will be Thursday, May 30, beginning at 1 p.m. They will have cookies and punch following the event.
Eighth-grade graduation will be Thursday, June 6, at 7 p.m., with a dance following the ceremony. High school graduation will be Friday, June 7, at 7 p.m.
