Reflections on downtown

By Sue Seibert | sue_seibert@att.net

I read in the Index on Sunday that we are really going to have ghost tours each Saturday in downtown Mineral Wells and that some of the local shopkeepers are going to encourage this endeavor, keeping their stores open later and selling ghost-related items.

Since the Baker has sent out a siren call to ghost hunters and seekers of the paranormal all across the state, I think this is a very refreshing idea for bringing tourists to Mineral Wells. Places like Charleston, S.C., Huntsville, Ala., and Wilmington, N.C., have similar tours. They introduce a sort of exciting element, and they seem to bring in tourists. So, all I can say is, “Way to go!”

I sincerely hope it is tremendously successful and that it encourages the businesses in our downtown area to spruce up and look nice, which, in my humble opinion, will also bring more people to our town, thus generating revenue and making all of us feel proud about the place in which we live.
