Sue Seibert's reflections on sidewalks

By Sue Seibert | sue_seibert@att.net

Last weekend in Mineral Wells and Palo Pinto County was a great weekend for celebrating our past, our present and our future. It’s just too bad it all had to happen on the same weekend, and because of that Raf and I were able to attend only two of the events.

Out on Dodson Prairie, west of Palo Pinto, St. Boniface Catholic Church celebrated its 100th year with a Mass followed by barbecue, a silent auction and a raffle. The church out there on the prairie is a reminder of Christianity moving across our county right after the turn of the previous century. Well, thankfully the plumber is here today (Monday) after a weekend without the back toilet, washing machine and shower. The plumber, Norman’s, would have come sooner, but we had too much to do to be here when he came, and we didn’t want to ask him on Sunday. That’s God’s day!

I have been a member of ancestry.com since its inception - even before, as I was one of the first to participate in rootsweb.com which was subsequently pirated by a few not-so-good people and turned into Ancestry. Ah, but that is another story.

Ok, ok, I know some of you fellows were rather amused by my column a while back - the one telling you not to read. Well, while this column is about women, I hope you will read it and be encouraged by it to assist in the preservation of one of the few grand old ladies left in our town.

  • Reflections About Town

While, as many of you know, I have been pretty skeptical about the revitalization of the Baker Hotel, I do believe it looks pretty good for its going forward.
