I suppose that by now you know that I have many pet peeves! Too many for any one person to really keep as pets! I do not like people who lie. I don't want to be deceived nor to deceive anyone. I do not like people who make fun of others and lie about other people in order to see them hurt.
But, my largest pet peeve is when someone takes the Lord's name in vain. I find that totally offensive, and it is becoming more and more prevalent each day. So far as I am concerned it is cursing, and, although I remember when children were not allowed to curse, everyone is allowed to use the Lord's name as a curse word. I truly believe that is wrong.
In the Bible, Exodus says, "You shall not make wrongful use of the name of the Lord your God‚" or "Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain."
However, today, one has to look no farther than Facebook or talk to either a child or an adult to see or hear "OMG." It is as common as dirt, but it is just wrong, and it offends me, as it should any Christian or Jew! You see, in the Old Testament God gave the people 10 rules to follow. Those rules aren't always easy, but they are simple to understand.
We are not to worship anyone or anything but God. We are not to make idols to worship. We are to go to church on the Sabbath day. We are to honor our parents. We are not to murder, commit adultery, steal, lie, or covet. See how simply put those things are! They are not easy to follow but they are simple to understand.
