A group of 20 students and five sponsors from First Baptist Church of Mineral Wells traveled to Austin to help in a soup kitchen over spring break.
Junior high- to college-aged students volunteered to assist with preparing, serving and cleaning up at Austin Baptist Chapel. Approximately 500 were fed during the three-day mission trip.

Beavers, Nathan Buchanan, Ann Fidler, MaryAnn Hobbs, Ray Mays, Lauri Mays, Matthew Mays, Stephanie Mays, Paloma Nuñez, Kaylen O’Neal, Marisa Owens, Brittany Polk, Kelsey Powell, Jacoby Prestwood, Jamie Putman III, Joy Putman, Megan Putman, Garrison Sanchez, Lindsay Starr, William Starr III, Jeniffer Vandivere,Tiffany Vandivere and Joseph Wells served at the kitchen.
First Baptist has continued a working relationship with Austin Baptist Chapel for 10 years. Austin Baptist
Chapel is a small, mission church meeting the needs of the poor and homeless of Austin. The chapel serves free lunches every day except Thanksgiving and Christmas. Last year they distributed over 100,000 meals.
