PARKER COUNTY – For those who wish they could travel to Bethlehem and experience the birthplace of Jesus but can’t, there is a nearby alternative.
Capernaum Village is located on a 2,200-acre Weatherford ranch northwest of Weatherford on Farm-to-Market Road 920. The replica first-century village is the setting for the “Star of Bethlehem Experience” taking place Dec. 21, 22 and 23. The village allows visitors to walk through and experience the place and time Jesus was born while also enjoying food and refreshments. Tickets for adults are $15, $10 for children and those under 3 are free. There are also seniors and group rates. Tickets can be purchased at the door or by visiting www.tammylaneproductions.com.
Village-goers are advised there are some steep hills, rock steps and rough terrain and not all areas of the village are wheelchair accessible.
More than two dozen actors set the scene for what it was like the night of Jesus’ birth.
“Sometimes we lose the true meaning of Christmas,” Tammy Lane, creator and producer of the Star of Bethlehem Experience, told the Weatherford Democrat. “This reminds you of what it really could have been like that night.”
Capernaum 1st Century Village is located at 10700 FM Road 920 (Peaster Highway).
