First Baptist Church of Mineral Wells hosted an Experiencing God Weekend Oct. 21-23.
The weekend event introduced the Experiencing God Bible Study. Church members housed 45volunteers from all over the United States to teach preschool-through-adult workshops enabling all church members and locals to attend the event.
Experiencing God is a 12-week course written by Henry Blackaby to help people discover God’s purpose for their lives. The popular study has been around for 20 years and is available in 45 languages.
Lonnie Riley, director of Meridzo Center Ministies Inc., of Harlan County, Ky., was guest speaker for the weekend. Riley has co-authored two books: “Miracle in the Mountains: Experiencing the Transforming Power of Faith in the Heart of Appalachia” and “By Faith: Living in the Certainty of God’s Reality.”
“This weekend reinforced my belief that God wants to use our church not to begin a work here, but to join him where he is already working. And you are going to miss out if you’re not willing to experience God as he’s at work in this community,” said Associate Pastor Andy Rodgers. Rodgers relocated to Mineral Wells in August to serve at First Baptist Church.
Over 200 were present Oct. 21 for free barbecue and a worship service, and 85 registered for the 12-week Experiencing God Bible Study set to begin this Sunday. For more information or to register for Experiencing God visit fbcmwtx.org or call (940) 325-2523.
