From staff reports
Mt. Hermon First Baptist Church is featuring its day-long Annual Men’s and Women’s Day program on Sunday, which carries the theme, “May the work that I’ve done speak for me.”
Guest minister for the event is Reverend Clarence Holliman, pastor of Bethel Baptist Church in Breckenridge, who will speak at 3 pm.
The morning service begins at 11 a.m. with Deacon Carl Lewis Turner as the featured speaker.
He said “... the best thing that my parents and grandparents gave to me was, ‘Believe in Jesus Christ.’”
Turner, a Mineral Wells High School graduate and now an employee, studied at Midwestern University in Wichita Falls, Texas A&M University in College Station, and Calvary Cathedral in Fort Worth.
Sunday’s afternoon’s guest speaker is Rev. Holliman, who has served as pastor at Bethel Baptist Church in Breckenridge since 1986.
As many Mineral Wells residents know, he also remains active here, where he has served in many religious, civic, educational and political positions.
While Holliman was an educator at Mineral Wells’ Dunbar School, Turner was a student there in the mid 60s. Both speakers symbolize the program’s emphasis on past, present and future. Participants will be blessed by a “teacher/mentor” and his student.
Mt. Hermon First Baptist Church is located at 616 S.E/ 4th Ave. in Mineral Wells.
