Vivian Conrad, Executive Director of the Senior Center, said, “we lose $1.26-$1.41 on every meal we make.” Therefore, the canned food drive provided by Lakewell House was met with gratefulness by the Senior Center.
Overall, the canned food drive collected hundreds of cans of food alongside other nonperishable goods. Conrad said, “we really appreciate all of the other major service providers of the community that help the Senior Center.”
So who exactly donated to the canned food drive? Castillo said, “it was a mixture of people and organizations that gave to the drive.” She went on to state that IntegraCare and Lakewell House were two of the biggest contributors.
For those who want to contribute beyond the canned food drive that has now passed, there are two key ways to give. First is by becoming a meal sponsor for the Senior Center. With the Senior Center losing money on every meal they make, it is easy to see why this would be a viable option for giving back.
Second, march on over to the Lakewell House and ask about ways to contribute.
