I have a new granddaughter due to arrive in another couple of weeks. She’ll be the fourth girl out of nine grandkids. The closer her delivery date draws, the stronger my urge to roam the infant sections of local department stores. I think I’ve bought every style of pink ballet-shoe-decorated baby gowns available in three counties.
Happy anticipation breaks up the monotony of predictable routine. Having something to look forward to lends excitement to even the dullest day.
Everyone experiences anticipation to some degree, whether a student counting the hours until summer vacation or an expectant mom circling a due date on her calendar. At Mineral Wells Senior Center, we try to give people plenty of things to look forward to.
Some of the events this month include a trip to the State Fair of Texas. We have 32 seats available on a bus that will leave the Senior Center at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18, and return by 6 p.m. that evening.
