2012 Senior Expo is upon us

While my husband was in seminary back in the 1980s, I helped support us by working as a medical assistant in a physician’s office. Though he was one of Louisville’s highly respected surgeons, Dr. Kinnaird had the heart of a country doctor like his father and grandfather before him. During patient consultations he spent more time listening than talking. He refused to charge more than $25 for initial office visits and often made house calls for post-operative patients who didn’t feel well enough to venture out. People were always his top priority.

I had thought that Dr. Kinnaird, who died in 2007, was among the last of his kind. But since moving here I have met physicians, nurses and other health care professionals who embody the same qualities of service and concern for patients as I admired in my former employer.
