Hats Off to Our Volunteers . . .

(Continued)

MWHS National Honor Society Students:  Kenneth Lathrom, Lindsay Millikan, Kevin Gregory, Macy Nix and Nicholas Wendt.

Garage Sale Team Leaders and Workers:  Nellie Garcia, Dora and Victor Calderon, Gladys Mainaird, David and Linda Draper, Sharon Rose, Kaye Cornish, Sharon McKinley, Joyce Nickel, Carolyn and Mat Seltzer, Anne Farrell, Linda Pitts, Emilio Luna, Alan Lusk, Don and Martha Reese, Harry Stallatos, David Buschow, Fern Wilson, Glenn Summers, Judy Nash, Maria Gonzales, Bertha Hoover, Mike and Barbara Boyd, Karen Walker, Marilyn Shaffer, Shirley Arrot, Bob Brock, Cathy Torres, Bobbie Coleman, Darleen Carthen, Linda Duncan, Margaret Strain and Maurine Burnett.

There is quite literally no room in this column to mention all the individuals who came in to help with different events during the year, including all those who presented workshops and worked in the Senior Expo last September; my veterinarian nephew, Derek Johnson, who administered free vaccinations to 75 dogs and 12 cats; the people who helped with our motorcycle rally or presented programs ranging from Alzheimer Legal Issues to Emergency Protocols.

I am so grateful to all the people who have helped us in so many ways. My heart is full from the sheer blessing of it.

From our entire Senior Center staff, we say Thank You and Hats Off to all our volunteers!

  • Ordinary heroes

It seems kind of funny to me that our society celebrates the abilities of some people while ignoring those of others.

  • FEB BD.jpg Treasures Galore

Have you heard that old saying, “One person’s junk is another person’s treasure”? Well let me tell you, we’ve got treasure to spare!

Since early Monday morning, our volunteers have been unpacking, sorting, pricing and arranging truckloads of treasure for the annual Gigantic Garage Sale that begins tonight. Our $10-per-person Early Bird Sale will run from 5-7 this evening, but the real fun begins tomorrow morning. The sale from 9-5 on Friday, March 14, and 9-1 on Saturday, March 15, is free to the public.
