Many, Many Thanks

Mineral Wells Index

— We are so grateful to our community for rallying to support our annual Garage Sale fundraiser. Thanks to all the people who drove out to the base to shop.

I appreciate all the time and effort many of our Senior Center participants and board members spent on this event. They worked literally from morning to evening for many days. We could not have done it without them.

We are also grateful to Sheriff Ira Mercer for sending us some strong young men to help set up tables and do most of our heavy lifting. It really saved our tired old backs.

Many groups and individuals in our community donated meals and snacks for the volunteers who worked last week. Our thanks go out to Lakewell House, Palo Pinto Nursing and Rehab, Comfort Suites, Maria Gonzales, Anne Farrell, Margaret Strain, God’s Joy, Jeremy Conrad Allstate Insurance, Dora and Victor Calderon and Hayes Station for the food and drinks they provided.

The Activities Center director Donnie Hoover and his staff were as courteous and kind to us as always. We are so grateful to them for allowing us to use their building.

We’d also like to thank the high school students who came out on Saturday to help us clean up and clear out. Lindsay Milliken and Kenneth Lathum put in several hours of hard labor for us, as did Brandon Mahan. They made the old adage, “Many hands make light work,” come alive that afternoon, even though they were bearing the brunt of the heavy moving.

In summary, we at Mineral Wells Senior Center feel very, very grateful to the many people who pitched in to help make this fundraiser a success.

Just a reminder – on Tuesday evening, March 19, we’ll join with Lakewell House and Palo Pinto Nursing & Rehab in hosting a free Progressive Dinner Party. Palo Pinto Nursing & Rehab will start the party with appetizers at their place at 4 p.m. Next the group will move to the Senior Center for the main meal, and later finish off with dessert at Lakewell House. Call us at (940) 325-6470 if you want to join in the fun.
