Mineral Wells United won the U14 Girls Recreational Championship at the Lake Granbury Spring Classic on May 14-15. United had a tie (1-1) and a win (1-0) over the Cleburne Ice and two wins (2-0, 3-0) over the host Granbury Lightning to take the title. Team members are, front row from left, Mayra Vela, Robyn Hunsinger, Mollie Martinez, Talley Goldston, Jordan Hisel, Brenda Silva, Daniella Cruz and Erin McGuire; and back row, Coach Ric Holly, Desiree Bell, Gabriana Lazo, Caroline Clarke, co-MVP’s Becky Langley and Alana Holly, Jasmin Rojo and Kylie Williams. The girls also took second place in the Metroplex Soccer Alliance U14 Girls A Division. They will play their final game together at 3 p.m. this Sunday in Ram Stadium against the Burleson Cyclones.
