A couple of weeks ago, Colon and I observed our 67th wedding anniversary. I did not give it much note in my column that week because the event was overshadowed by the excellent report of his condition following his heart attack that information took the spotlight in my thoughts and much of my communications.
However, I have had time since then to ponder and remember the earlier relationship of our marriage, and in the process of remembering, I wrote some of my emotions during those intervening years since 1945. Our reaction to the anniversary event followed with more resignation than celebration. I presented him with a gift of pulling his nose hairs and my celebration was in having a mole removed from my neck. We both agreed that it is difficult to shop for someone who has everything.
