PALO PINTO – A Palo Pinto County Grand Jury delivered seven indictments, one of which was sealed, two four individuals at the Palo Pinto County Courthouse on Thursday morning, Dec. 19.

Among those indicted were Summer Kirkland, 26, of Mineral Wells and Temkai Lee O’Bryant, 31, of Weatherford who cooperated in the theft of various items at Possum Kingdom Lake during the summer.

Both received indictments for theft of property between $20,000 and $100,000, with Kirkland picking up an additional indictment for theft of property between $1,500 and $20,000.

District Attorney Mike Burns told the Index Kirkland and O’Bryant cut the lock to a secured area for boat storage at Possum Kingdom Lake and stole two WaveRunner personal water crafts as well as a number of personal items belonging to various families and individuals.

Burns said the Palo Pinto County Sheriff’s Office got a lead in the case when they discovered Kirkland and O’Bryant were attempting to sell the WaveRunners on the internet to some people in Central Texas.

Sheriff’s deputies were able to recover all of the stolen property and put both Kirkland and O’Bryant into custody.

At the time of their arrests in September, Kirkland stood accused of both theft offenses – for which she was indicted – as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.

In addition to his indictment for theft between $20,000 and $100,000, O’Bryant was also arrested at that time for theft of property between $1,500 and $20,000 and a parole violation for burglary of a habitation.

O’Bryant was also involved in the large-scale, regional drug bust in October that resulted in the arrests of 19 individuals after an eight-month investigation into a methamphetamine operation stretching from Dallas to Palo Pinto County.

At that time, he was arrested for engaging in organized criminal activity with a bond set at $50,000. In Burns’ words, this latest indictment will only cause more problems for O’Bryant.

The following were also indicted:

• Riggin Gideon Valley - theft of property between $1,500 and $20,000 enhanced.

• Roland Hayes Schultz III - two indictments for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) under 1 gram.
