State of the Community luncheon set for Friday

The Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce will host the second annual State of the Community address Friday, including reports from leaders from various sectors.

The event includes a catered luncheon and will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the gymnasium of First Baptist Church.

More than 200 individuals attended the first address, held last January at the same location.

As in the 2012 event, the chamber invited local city, county, and school officials to speak. Additionally, a representative from Weatherford College was added to the lineup.

Speakers include City Manager Lance Howerton, Palo Pinto County Sheriff Ira Mercer, Mineral Wells ISD Superintendent Dr. Gail Haterius, and Weatherford College President Dr. Kevin Eaton.

Each of the guest speakers will outline how the entity he or she represents can help make the local community stronger.

Natty Flat Smokehouse will once again cater the event.

Tickets are $45 and those planning to attend can register online at the chamber's website, mineralwellstx.com.

The event is sponsored by Eventide, Progressive Waste Solutions, PECOFacet, State Bank Mineral Wells, Chicken Express, Texas Farm Bureau Insurance, First Baptist Church, Perri Leavelle Design and Cobham Avionics.
