In a conference call with members Wednesday, Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce Chairman Dacey Malone  announced the board selected Ryan Roach as the Chamber’s new executive director.

Roach will begin his new duties Oct. 1, according to Malone, and will replace Executive Director Beth Watson, who served in the position for six years.

Watson will work through Sept. 30 – including the chamber banquet that evening.

Beginning Oct. 1,  Watson will begin her new job as marketing director for Corner Post Financial Planning, a Mineral Wells-based financial services firm.

Malone informed members who joined Wednesday’s conference that Roach’s roots in the area appealed to the board, as did his community involvement.

“I think Ryan will do a great job,” she told the Index. “His passion for Mineral Wells and education are a good match for the direction the chamber has been going the See past several years. We’re excited to have him.”

In addition to Roach’s passion for Mineral Wells and Palo Pinto County, Malone said he “has strong leadership skills and a passion for ... education, which is a good fit for the board.”

“The chamber board is very excited about having Ryan Roach on board and having him lead our organization to new heights,” Malone told members on the call.

In recent years the MWACC has worked more closely with local schools to connect students with the variety of careers available locally through the “Workforce Development and Education” initiative.

Roach, a Mineral Wells resident, has served as an agent for two years with Texas Farm Bureau Insurance. He is a participant in the chamber’s Leadership Mineral Wells Class 19.

An agriculture economics graduate of Tarleton State University and a Santo High School graduate,  Roach spent several years in golf course management before returning to Palo Pinto County.

He is a member of the Mineral Wells Noon Lions Club, served as a founding member of the Chamber Resource Team, has coached Upward Basketball and is active in local schools with his wife, Jacy, and their two children.

Additionally, he founded and leads a chapter of Legacy Outfitters in Palo Pinto County – an  organization that helps men become leaders in their churches, families and communities.
