— Nine Mineral Wells ISD children ages 7-12 riding on Bus #32 Friday morning have been released from Palo Pinto General Hospital after an early-morning hit-and-run accident, according to district spokeperson Karyn Bullock.
Bullock also said the driver has been apprehended and in police custody.
Bullock said 15 children were on the bus and that the other six children were either released to another bus or into custody of their parents.
"One of the nine children was sent to the hospital because we could not get in touch with a parent," Bullcok said. "So as a precautionary measure we sent the child to the hospital.
The accident, which occurred at the corner of FM 1195 and MH 379, was caused by a hit-and-run driver who was later apprehended later after abandoning his vehicle.
Bullock said the bus driver was not at fault and responded properly.
