The Texas Department of Public Safety is still investigating a fatal accident between two vehicles just west of Mineral Wells over the weekend.

Billie Charles Thresher, 57, of Mineral Wells, was pronounced dead at 11:15 p.m., Saturday, at the scene after the collision near the intersection of U.S. Highway 180 and Texas state highway 337, according to DPS Senior Trooper Gary M. Rozzell.

He was transported to Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner funeral home in Mineral Wells.

Rozzell said Thresher was riding in a 2000 Ford Taurus with two other people at around 10:40 p.m., 0.2 miles west of Mineral Wells on that foggy and wet Saturday night.

The driver – David Wendell Kilcrease, 48, of Mineral Wells – was northbound on Keller Road and began to turn onto U.S. Highway 180 when his car was t-boned by the driver of a 1993 Ford F-250, eastbound on 180.

DPS troopers and Palo Pinto County Sheriff’s deputies were among the officials to respond to the wreck.

Rozell said the two people who were in the Taurus with Thresher were both transported to Palo Pinto General Hospital: Kilcrease in stable condition with minor injuries and Tina Lois Price (47, of Palo Pinto) in stable condition with serious, incapacitating injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck, Robert Allen Hulit, 64, of Weatherford was arrested for intoxication manslaughter.

He was still in Palo Pinto County Jail as of Monday afternoon, according to a source at the facility.
