Every week this month has been slated with efforts to promote awareness. Last week, a variety of events took place including the county pinwheel presentation, Go Blue Day and the planting of 198 blue roses at the courthouse in honor of the confirmed cases last year.
This week, 138 balloons were released at Lamar Elementary School in honor of children living in the foster care system throughout Palo Pinto County.
The Helium was donated by Cole's House of Flowers and North Oak Church of Christ, and the balloons and string were donated by Rainbow Room. Those present were Rainbow Room, PPCCWB, CPS and PPC CAC along with an army of elementary students and MWISD Staff.
The following events remain in the Go Blue! campaign:
• April 24, CWB Stars Shine Fundraiser.
• April 27, Blue Day.
• April 29, Day of prayer and CAC open house.
And don't forget, to eat out every Tuesday in April, as the following restaurants will donate a portion of their proceeds to benefit all Go Blue agencies when one mentions the Go Blue! campaign (dine in only):
• Shotgun's Barbeque.
• Mr. Jim's Pizza.
• Hogg's Pit.
• Old School Pizza.
• Mesquite Pit.
• Hickey's Dairy Queen.
At the balloon release, MWISD Supt. Gail G. Haterius quoted Jesus saying, “'I tell you the truth, just as you did it for one of the least of these brothers or sisters of mine, you did it for me,'” Matthew 25:40 (NET).
