The 18th Annual Fajita Feed and City Celebration benefiting the Mineral Wells Volunteer Fire Department is this Saturday, May 3, beginning at 3 p.m. and ending at 7 p.m.
The event will again be held at the Expo Building adjacent to the rodeo grounds on FM Road 1821 North. As usual, delicious chicken and beef fajitas made to satisfy any palate will be carefully prepared by this band of famous firefighters turned cooks for an afternoon.
Carter’s Blood Center will have their bus available for those wanting to donate the Gift of Life. There will be a bounce house for the kids and live music for all to enjoy. Again this year there will be an auction of baked goods carefully prepared by volunteer firefighters’ wives.
Tickets for the meal are just $10 and are available from any Mineral Wells Volunteer Firefighter or at the door. Carry outs are available. This event is the main fundraising event for the Mineral Wells Volunteer Fire Department.
In 2013, the volunteers answered 204 alarms and performed approximately 2,100 hours of actual firefighting, in addition to countless hours of training and instructing in fire schools throughout Texas.
The October fire school, sponsored by the Mineral Wells Volunteer Fire Department, brought some 275 students representing 67 different communities to the city for the two-day school.
