Mineral Wells Index
— Just two days after a downpour, yet one day after a dry front blew through, a fire ignited a field and burned several acres south of Mineral Wells, on Fairview Road. The wind appeared to scoot the fire quickly across the pasture grass. Property owners said the fire, called in shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday, started at the top of an oil production battery when the production leaseholder was pouring fluid in the tank. Palo Pinto County Fire Marshall Buddy Harwell said he believes the fire started with some kind of static electricity build up, which he said could have happened with Thursday's dry and low-humidity conditions.
