Three area law enforcement agencies took part in a pursuit stretching from Old Millsap Highway into the south side of Mineral Wells.
Texas Department of Public Safety Senior Trooper Gary M. Rozzell said DPS troopers initiated the pursuit when Robert Oswald, 28, of Dublin, was headed northbound on Old Millsap Highway in a maroon Toyota Carolla at around 12:30 a.m., Sunday.
Troopers continued to chase Oswald past the intersection of MH 379 and into Mineral Wells, where Rozzell said another trooper deployed spikes to disable the vehicle. Oswald’s vehicle slid to a stop near the intersection of SE 6th Avenue and SE 8th Street. By this point, Rozzell said Mineral Wells Police Department and Palo Pinto County Sheriff’s deputies were assisting in the pursuit.
Despite losing the use of his vehicle, Oswald took off on foot and evaded police. Rozzell said Oswald was later apprehended by a DPS trooper near the intersection of US Highway 281 and MH 379 at around 2 p.m. Oswald was arrested for evading arrest and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
