Afraid to speak up? Learn how

Are you stricken with fear when asked to speak in front of a group? Your public presentation skills can make or break your career.

As part of Leadership Mineral Wells, the Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce presents a program on “Effective Public Speaking” from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 28. This one-hour program is free to the public.

The speaker will Bonne Stroman. Stroman is incoming district governor for Toastmasters International. In her spare time, she teaches English III and AP English IV at Mineral Wells High School.

    With Linda Gilley's volunteerism and work as an administrative assistant at the Mineral Wells Senior Center since 2007, the place hasn't lacked for fun and enthusiasm. That is not expected to change now that the energetic Gilley is the senior center's new executive director, having the interim part of that title removed following a unanimous vote of the center's board of directors.
