UIL places Mineral Wells High School in District 4-4A

Basketball teams placed in District 6-4A

In an announcement today (Monday) by the University Interscholastic League in its redistricting process, the UIL has placed Mineral Wells High School in the new football District 4-4A Division I along with Graham, Burkburnett, Gainesville, Decatur and Wichita Falls Hirschi.

Mineral Wells was placed in the new basketball district, District 6-4A, along with Graham, Abilene Wylie, Brownwood and Stephenville.

Beginning in the 2014-15 school year in football, Texas high schools will be classified from Class A to Class 6A as the UIL will do away with the classification formerly called "six man."

MWHS, which was playing in Class 3A, will now be a Class 4A school, while schools plating six man football, including Gordon and Strawn from Palo Pinto County, will now be classified as Class A.

In football districts, Millsap will be placed in District 2-3A Division II along with Cisco, Eastland, Henrietta, Holliday, Nocona, Wichita Falls City View and Jacksboro.

Santo and Perrin will be placed in District 8-2A Division II along with Albany, Baird, Cross Plains, Gorman and Ranger.

And, once again, Strawn and Gordon will be placed in the same district, District 10-A Division I. The Greyhounds and Longhorns will compete with Gustine, Lingleville and May.

For more information on the basketball districts access www.utexas.edu/uil.

The Rams' non-district opponents in football for the next two years has not been announced by the school. Check Tuesday's Index for that information and for more coverage concerning UIL redistricting.
