The Mineral Wells Police department reported a stabbing at the Walmart Supercenter on Farm-to-Market Road 1821, that ultimately led to an arrest, Tuesday.
Police were dispatched to the Walmart parking lot at around 10 p.m., Tuesday, originally in reference to an incident of criminal mischief. Police said, upon arrival, they discovered a victim, who had left the scene, was allegedly stabbed "in the stomach area" by another individual.
Officers traveled to a residence in the 1800 block of SE 21st Street, where they found the alleged stabber – 19-year-old Matthew MacPherson of Mineral Wells. After a brief investigation, police arrested MacPherson for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Police said the individual who was stabbed was initially taken to Palo Pinto General Hospital. From there, police said he was flown to the trauma center at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.
Police described the victim's injuries as non-life-threatening. Police added the victim was in stable condition, although they do not know whether or not he has been released from the hospital.
