— On Saturday, take a historic drive through Jack County as he Jack County Historical Commission sponsors its second annual Historical Driving Tour.
Jack County has a colorful past and seeing these tour sites, in person, will make history come alive. There are six main sites on this self-paced driving tour, with many other sites to be viewed along the way. Those attending will be given a map, driving directions and an audio CD that details the stories of these sites.
A member of the Jack County Historical Commission will greet tourists at each site. Your tour will include several of the more infamous Indian raids of the area including the Cambern-Mason Indian Massacre and the Lost Valley Fight. Other locations on the tour include a frontier burial site, a panoramic view of the Lost Valley area, a frontier fort and the birthplace of Texas 4-H.
The tour will be held Saturday, Oct. 12, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $10 per adult and $2 for children, ages 6-15. Tickets will be available prior to and the day of the tour at the Jack County Museum, Jacksboro Chamber of Commerce and Fort Richardson State Park.
