Saturday’s exhibition opening for Tammy Roberts, which saw a crowd of around 130 visitors, was the last opening for Rising Stars in its current location, according to owner Sharlet Evans.
Evans said Rising Stars, 113 N.E. 1st St., will shutter its doors Aug. 31 to make more room for the neighboring Bead Barn. She said Bead Barn owner Amber Carter plans to expand her offerings to include more clothing and a line of boots.
But this doesn’t mean an end to Evans’ working with art. She said she is working on plans for traveling exhibitions or “caravan shows,” and would be working with the artists in her “stable.” She added that she will be looking at other downtown buildings to serve as a possible future art gallery.
