As Palo Pinto County Judge David Nicklas' 72-hour burn ban rescission was nearing its end, he signed another order lifting it until Monday morning.
Recent rainfall has improved conditions but County Fire Marshal Buddy Harwell said forecasts do not show much chance for upcoming precipitation.
"The burn ban is lifted until Monday," he said. "We'll see how this weekend goes."
County commissioners will address the issue at Monday's regularly scheduled court session, he explained.
"My speculation is it will be off for the weekend," he said, adding he expects the ban will likely be reinstated come Monday. "We won't know until we get to court."
Also on Monday, Harwell added, another sure sign of summer begins.
"Fireworks go on sale Monday morning," he noted. As always, fireworks should be used with extreme caution and in accordance withapplicable laws, he added.
