COOL – A 38-year-old Fort Worth  woman died in a wreck Wednesday afternoon on U.S. Highway 180 near Cool.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner Office identified the victim as Jessica Reyes, of Fort Worth, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The wreck occurred about 4:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of U.S. 180 between the Farm-to-Market Road 113 North and FM 113 South intersections, near Cool Junction Road.

Reyes was driving a grey Saturn SUV that appeared to have sustained impact on its passenger side. A white Dodge pickup was left in the highway’s median with damage to its front.

One witness said she partially saw the wreck, seeing the SUV possibly airborne before coming to rest along the southside of the highway. Emergency dispatchers called the wreck a rollover.

It could not be determined if the driver of the truck was injured. Texas Department of Public Safety troopers on the scene referred details about the wreck to an unavailable public information officer and declined to provide any information.

Amber Sarver said her 22-year-old daughter was on her way home from work, heading westbound on U.S. 180, when she witnessed the wreck.

“She was pretty upset about it,” Sarver said.

“At first she thought the girl in the SUV was trying to back out of a driveway and then, the more she thought about it, she said she thought she was trying to make a U-turn [in the crossover],” she explained.

“She said the impact [of the eastbound Dodge truck] was so hard that the SUV was literally in the air and flipped more than once. She stopped and other people stopped,” she added. “She called home and was so upset my husband went out to calm her down.”

Chris Sarver said by the time he arrived there were many law enforcement and emergency vehicles. He said he went to support their daughter.

“She’s young, she’s never seen anything like that,” he said of her seeing someone lose her life in a wreck.
