Fire crews from Mineral Wells, Graford and Lone Camp responded to a residential fire that destroyed a single-wide mobile home Thursday afternoon on Hideaway Acres Road.
The fire was reported about 2:30 p.m., but Palo Pinto County Fire Marshal Buddy Harwell said it had been burning for some time prior to the initial report.
"We lifted the burn ban [Wednesday]," he said. "A lot of people thought someone was just burning something."
By the time first responders arrived at the scene, Harwell said the blaze had consumed the home.
"It was gone when we got there," he said.
Fortunately, no one was home when the fire began, though he said homeowners did not have residential insurance.
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation, Harwell added.
"They had problems with outlets in the past – not working right and tripping breakers," he said.
