You and Art is a chance for citizens to learn about making art, while raising awareness and funds for the non-profit Mineral Wells Art Association.
The artistic event is Friday, March 28, 7-9 p.m., at the Mineral Wells American Legion, near West City Park.
"We're going to bring two really good instructors, all the supplies participating patrons will need and a whole bunch of creative energy into one venue," said Becky Hott, MWAA president. "You & Art is going to be a win/win fundraiser."
Make a reservation for this unique experience. Each participant will be entitled to one free beverage and will go home with one completed acrylic canvas landscape, suitable for framing. The cost is $35 for the event, with all proceeds going to the MWAA.
The evening’s instructors are Betty Blakely and Carol Noeding, both accomplished painters.
Blakely is a longtime resident of Perrin and has been painting for 34 years. She has taught art for many of those years but retired full time this summer and only teaches occasionally. She paints in oils and acrylics and loves the Southwest area outdoor scenes. She was co-owner of the gift shop and gallery Two for Country for many years.
Noeding has been a member and supporter of the Mineral Wells Art Association for over 30 years. She has shown in galleries in New Mexico and Colorado. Currently, she has work in a gallery in Stephenville. Carol also has a small gallery in her home, where she welcomes visitors. She paints in a variety of media, with animals being her subject of choice.
Anyone wishing to participate in You & Art may contact Becky Hott at 940-452-3431. This event will be limited to 30 participants, so make your reservations early.
