According to police, a man helped seal his own fate by returning to the spot they say he left evidence of a suspected crime.

The ordeal began April 17 at a retailer in the 600 block of Farm-to-Market Road 1821 North.

When the store's loss prevention staff noticed a man who appeared to be concealing merchandise in a shopping cart, they followed him until he abandoned the cart and left the store.

Mineral Wells police officers were dispatched and collected a number of driver's licenses and Social Security cards from the cart. The reported offense is described as fraudulent use or possession of identifying information between 5

and 10 items.

Officers were dispatched to the location later that week when a man believed to be the suspect returned to the same store.

After police determined Aaron Russell Ehrle, 31, of Mineral Wells, was the same individual loss prevention identified earlier, officers linked him to a vehicle in the parking lot and collected further evidence.

He was arrested at the scene and faces charges stemming from an off bond warrant for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

Erhle has since been released on $30,000 bond, according to county records.
