From Staff Reports
At 6 p.m. on Christmas, three Mineral Wells Public Works Department crews braved nippy 25-degree and lower temps and lots of water, repairing a water main break near the intersection of S.W. 8th Street and 2nd Avenue.
City crews remained on the scene from about 2 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. working on the break.
This was one of three water main breaks with the freezing temperatures.
Staff worked from 8 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Sunday on another water main break in the 400 block of N.W. 21st Street and spent an hour cleaning up a small break the same day near the intersection of N.W. 3rd Avenue and 25th Street.
If residents see water emerging from under the street’s surface, they are encouraged to call the Public Works Department during regular business hours at (940) 328-7777. After hours, individuals can report a suspected break by calling a 24-hour line at (940) 328-7865, or the Mineral Wells Police Department at (940) 328-7770.
