Mineral Wells police report that officers responding to a reported domestic disturbance in the 2500 block of S.W. 4th Avenue Sunday had to once again chase down an individual known for fleeing authorities.
Corey Edward Crews, 23, of Mineral Wells, ran from officers who were in the process of issuing a criminal trespass warrant, a police source told the Index.
Authorities were able to identify Crews and detain him a short time later. He was arrested and faces a charge of evading arrest or detention.
Police said this is not Crews' first attempt to flee, noting he is the same individual arrested after injuring an officer in an attempt to evade police during last year's Christmas parade.
During that incident, reports indicate an undercover officer identified Crews, who had a prior warrant for evading arrest, near a convenience store on North Oak Avenue.
Crews then got into a car and drove away, briefly dragging the officer and causing unspecified injuries, police said.
With the assistance of county authorities, officers were able to arrest Crews about two hours later.
Clerk arrested in alcohol sales sting
Imran Ali Bhutto, 39, of Mineral Wells, was arrested last week for selling alcohol to a minor taking part in a police sting operation.
Police said officers utilized a number of minors in the Jan. 25 operation, noting they visited seven local convenience stores in an attempt to find any employees willing to sell alcohol without proper identification.
Bhutto, an employee of a store in the 1600 block of S.E. 22nd Avenue, was the only individual who violated the law during the sting, police said.
After officers concluded their investigation, police said Precinct 5 Justice of the Peace Bobby Hart issued a warrant for Bhutto's arrest.
He faces a charge of sale of alcohol to a minor.
