Palo Pinto General Hospital trustees met Tuesday, addressing the upcoming building project to create a new medical office building.

The plan is to build a one-story, 29,000-square-foot building that will help the hospital grow into the future. It will be sited on 3.5 acres near the hospital marquee, between Palo Pinto Nursing and Rehab and the US Renal Care dialysis center.

CEO Harris Brooks said the hospital is starting to see firmer numbers for the building and is beginning the value-engineering process.

“We hope to have hard numbers and a contract proposal by the June meeting,” he noted.

“We bid three to four contractors early to come in and evaluate the project,” Brooks added. “A company named SKILES has been involved with the architects. We're hoping to keep [construction costs] in the $6 million range.

In other business, trustees helped dedicate trauma room one, in the PPGH emergency department, in honor of Marilyn Wilson, an ER registered nurse BSN, who celebrated her 45th anniversary with the hospital on Tuesday.

“She's the most tenured employee,” Brooks said. “On Tuesday we renamed the trauma room the “Marilyn K. Wilson Trauma Room.”

Also at Tuesday's meeting trustees accepted a contract with the Moncrief Cancer Center.
