After several days of living under an order to boil all water before drinking or cooking with it, Strawn residents are in much better shape this week.
Precinct 3 Commissioner Mike Pierce said Tuesday the town now has water supply and thanked the generous support of the community.
“I appreciate all the help we got,” he said.
In addition to individual donations, Walmart sent four palates of bottled water and Palo Pinto General Hospital donated 50 cases.
The Palo Pinto County Disaster Relief Team coordinated efforts to collect as much water as possible locally for Strawn residents.
“They’ve got water,” Pierce said; “That’s a wonderful thing to have.” He added the town has “a little cleanup left” to do.
He noted the cause of the water line blockage is still under investigation, explaining one theory is that fresh water mussels made their way into the 10-inch pipe, preventing proper water delivery.
