As the new school year begins this week, Mineral Wells Police Chief Dean Sullivan reminds locals that the safety of students is everyone’s responsibility.
“Motorists need to be mindful school is starting up,” Sullivan said. “Be reminded our school zones are in effect every school day from 7 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.”
He said all school zones include a 20 miles-per-hour speed limit, adding, “We will have additional officers out focusing their efforts to the school zones as well as deploying our public relations speed trailer.”
The speed trailer, debuted last year and in use since in various areas of town, is designed to “help the motoring public stay alert, be observant and be safe,” he said.
