Early voting for city, MWISD seats underway

Early voting for the May 11 uniform election for Mineral Wells ISD and Mineral Wells City Council races is underway and runs through May 7.

Out of four races, there is one contested race for the city. On the ballot for city council are:

• Kevin Harrison and Rick Bennett, running for the at-large, Place 1 seat held by Bennett.

• Bill Terry, is returning to council action, running unopposed for city council at-large, Place 2.

• Incumbent Tammy Underwood is unopposed for her Ward 2 seat.

• Newcomer Karium Carter is unopposed for the Ward 4 seat, which Harrison left to run for Place 1 at large.

Out of three MWISD seats up for election, there are two contested races. The school board ballot includes:

• Place 3, in which School Board President Joe Ruelas is unopposed.

• Place 4, in which incumbent Scott Aaron is challenged by newcomer Paul Glenn Harrison.

• Place 5, in which incumbent Mike Tincher is challenged by newcomer Sunny Gail Lee.

Again, early voting runs through May 7. Both the city and school district elections take place jointly and all voting – early and election day – takes place at the Palo Pinto County Annex/Poston Building, located at 107 North Oak Ave.

• Early voting by personal appearance will be conducted each weekday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., through May 7. There will be extended hours on May 6, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

• May 11, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

• Applications for Ballots by Mail must be received no later than the close of business on May 3. For a ballot-by-mail application, write:
