The Palo Pinto County Livestock Association Rodeo is back as participants and fans prepare for the thrills and spills that define the event.
A parade through downtown at 5 p.m. today will usher in the 76th production of the local rodeo.
Competitions begin nightly at 7:30 at the Mineral Wells rodeo grounds, 800 Farm-to-Market Road 1821 N.
One lucky attendee at tonight's event will have his or her name selected to win a $760 cash prize.
Ten percent of Friday night's ticket sales will be donated to the Palo Pinto General Hospital Cancer Fund as spectators are encouraged to wear pink or purple to show their support.
Rodeo week concludes Saturday night with the crowning of the 2013 rodeo queen and princess. A concert and dance will take place following the event at the nearby Expo Center.
Nightly events will include mutton bustin', opening rides by Cowgirls of Hope, and a trick riding act by Melissa Navarre and Company.
Advanced tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for youth, and are available at the Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce, local banks, and from the 2013 rodeo queen and princess contestants.
In addition to broncs and bulls, the community can get moving with a 5K Rodeo Fun Run and Walk taking place 8 a.m. Saturday and beginning at Anytime Fitness.
Anytime Fitness is sponsoring the 5K and Ram Country Mineral Wells is sponsoring tonight's raffle drawing.
