PALO PINTO COUNTY – There’s a new skipper of the Palo Pinto County Democratic Party, as Ida Nickerson recently took the helm prior to the Nov. 6 presidential election.
In late September, Nickeron took over as Palo Pinto County Democratic Party Chair from outgoing chair Lanie Wright.
Wright served as chair for almost four years, taking over after the death of long-time PPCDP Chair Herman Motley.
“Lanie came to me and asked me if I would be interested, knowing her term would come up,” Nickerson said. “I had the support of some of the members and after careful consideration, I decided to take on the challenge.” She said she faces a steep learning curve and hopes to employ her 10 years of community work and her Political Science degree “to rebuild the party and bring us together on a grassroots level – with hometown barbeques, fish fries, book clubs, whatever we need to do.”
