The owners of G's Grocery, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 281 North and State Highway 254, said someone burglarized the business and caused significant property damage early Thursday morning.
"They came about 3 o'clock in the morning," said co-owner Christy Claybourn, "cut the bars on the doors and broke the glass."
Upon making entry, she said the intruder or intruders made off with a variety of merchandise, including grocery items, tobacco, cat food, drinks, medicine and assorted household items.
As of Thursday, owners were not sure how much loss they had sustained between stolen merchandise and property damage. Craig Claybourn said authorities were reviewing surveillance footage from both G's Grocery and nearby Hashknife restaurant.
Though not at its normal hour, the store was able to open for business around 7 a.m. Thursday.
Calls requesting additional information from county law enforcement were not returned as of the Index's deadline Thursday.
